Everyone
whines and yearns for a beautiful impeccable skin but problems like blackheads
are most annoying; because they prevent women from looking their best. and
there seems to be no easy way of getting rid of them. The appearance of ugly blackheads
the nose and cheeks can spoil the beauty of the most flawless face!!!
Blackhead
basic – Where are they?
A blackhead
is an open comedone, or clogged pore. Contrary to popular belief, blackheads are not the result
of mud accumulating in overly deep pores. The "black" part arises
from a mixture of excessive sebum (oil) and dead skin cells which get
trapped within the pores. If the pore is not covered over by skin, the clog
gets exposed to air resulting in oxidation of sebum and skin cells. Blackheads
are mostly found in the T-zone — the area across your forehead, down your nose
and chin.
What are the
different types of blackheads?
Blackheads
and whiteheads are very similar, but the main difference lies in the fact that
the follicles forming involved in blackheads are larger and remain open. Both
blackheads and whiteheads are also called comedones, which are essentially
plugs of the hair follicle. Open comedones are blackheads and closed comedones
are whiteheads.
How blackheads form
Blackheads can be caused by
various reasons ranging from inefficient skin care to hormonal changes. And to
ensure that your skin is clean, clear and blackhead free, one can prevent
causing damage or aggravating the skin by looking after it in the right way.
Sebum: Under normal conditions,
the skin produces just enough sebum to stay protected and moist. However, with
more oil production, there’s a greater chance that excess sebum will become
trapped in the pore, thus causing a blockage
Other causes are not Removing
Make-Up from your face and not cleaning the face thus accumulating dirt and
grime which clog the pores. Also using harsh skin care products can damage skin
pores and lead to blackheads
Battling blackheads
If you want to quickly get
rid of blackheads, you first need to focus on reducing the amount of sebum oil
in your skin by washing your face twice a day with an oil-free deep action face
wash. Washing your face helps reduce the amount of sebum in your skin and helps
to remove dead skin cells from your face. You would be absolutely surprised
with how many people fail to do this simple fact.
Exfoliate
regularly using a gentle scrub or exfoliant to remove the excess skin cells on
the surface of the face so that they don’t build up within the pores. Exfoliants
also help to improve the shape of skin pores and allow a more even flow of oil
through it. However, take care not to over-exfoliate your skin lest you end up
damaging your skin. Exfoliants usually come with small beads (micro-beads)
which scrub away the dead skin from your face when you exfoliate with it.
Avoid bar
soaps as they contain harsh ingredients that clog the skin pores, cause
irritation and cause the skin cells to flake off before due time. This makes
them accumulate within the skin pores, combine with the sebum there and lead to
the formation of blackheads.
You should
also avoid putting products and creams on your face that contain oil. Oil-based
skin care products will clog up your skin and contribute to acne and blackhead
formation. So if you want to use skin care products or cosmetics, choose
oil-free products.
Banish bad habits and don’t pick,
squeeze or scratch at blackheads. This can cause irritation, infection and
scarring.
